Snowflake Elastic Data Warehouse, a service which allows the companies to pool all their data and workloads in a single warehouse that can be accessed by all their users, is the cloud-based data warehouse service, Snowflake Computing has made available for all the users.
The administrators don’t need to spend so much time in managing different administrative tasks as the warehouse is already designed to handle it for many of its users, like automatically scaling to match a company’s demands and handling hardware provisioning by itself.
Not only that but, Snowflake’s service is also capable of taking in both structured and semi-structured data, without requiring users to ensure that it’s all in one format before uploading to the warehouse. The data warehouse can also automatically optimize itself based on data usage.
Adobe, Condé Nast and International Gaming Technology’s DoubleDown Interactive division are some of the big clients for this service selected by the company.
Bob Muglia, a Microsoft veteran who joined Snowflake as its CEO in June 2014, took Snowflake to this position. He spent 23 years in various server-related roles at Microsoft, including a four-year stint as the head of its Server & Tools Business division.
There is competition for Snowflake in the market. It is competing with both Amazon and Microsoft offering products through their respective cloud platforms.
