American manufacturer of action cameras ‘GoPro’ launched three of its cameras, along with mounts and other accessories in India. For the distribution of these three cameras, the American manufacturer has partnered with India’s largest electronics retailer, Reliance Digital. The partnership between GoPro and Reliance Digital is an exclusive one; no other stores will be officially stocking GoPro cameras and gear.
The cameras available in India are the Hero Session, the Hero4 Silver and the Hero4 Black. The Hero Session is the smallest, most lightweight, and most easy to use camera. It has a one button functionality, but is not as fully featured as the other two cameras in the range. Hero4 Silver records in 2.7K HD video, and the top of the range Hero4 Black records in full 4K Ultra HD video.
To shed some more light on the partnership, Brian Bade, CEO of Reliance Digital, said “We are excited with the launch. GoPro fits our value proposition to bring the latest and industry-leading products first to Indian customers. The same camera that can capture an athlete surfing a monster wave, a child’s day in the park or a pelican’s first flight and that has been used in major Hollywood movies like The Martian, will now be available to our shoppers”
Tony Bates President of GoPro said, “We are looking forward to bringing our product to India’s young, creative and tech savvy market and are thrilled to be working with Reliance Digital, a premier electronics retailer in India. Reliance Digital’s expert store-associates will help educate customers on GoPro and provide a great customer experience. We view this as a strategic partnership that brings much more than just shelves for our products but a true partner to help with GoPro’s success in India.”
Apart from the cameras, Reliance Digital will also be stocking exclusive accessories and mounts for use with the GoPro which will be available in the 1800 Reliance Digital outlets spread over 500 cities across India. This will include the The Chest Harness, the 3-Way and the Head Strap+Quick Clip.
The 3-Way: it is an iconic and versatile GoPro mount that can be modified to work as a selfie stick or a monopod.
