The story of a Leader turned Entrepreneur: Mr Madhivanan Balakrishnan

Mr. Madhivanan Balakrishnan is the Managing Director & Global CEO of 3i Infotech. Prior to joining 3iInfotech, Mr. Madhivanan has served the post of the Executive Director at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. He has also served the posts of Senior General Manager, ICICI Bank and Head Customer Service & Retail Risk division before joining ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd, besides being in charge of the Internet Banking division for the bank. A member of the RBI Committee on micro-payments, the leader has also been on the Boards of various entities in the financial space.
As the Executive Director of ICICI Prudential Life the current CEO of 3iInfotech was responsible for providing leadership to the “Service Delivery Center” with varied functions such as Technology, Central Operations, Branch Services, BI and Marketing in driving the organizations objectives of quality growth, profitability and market leadership.
Mr. Madhivanan joined ICICI Bank in 1999, with a strong background in Sales and Marketing and was a part of the team that launched the ICICI Bank card product and later he was made responsible for all aspects of the card business. Under his leadership ICICI Bank emerged as one of the leading players in the Indian credit card market and the personal loans business.
With a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Mumbai University and PGDM in Marketing from Indian Institute of Management – Calcutta, Mr Madhivanan has demonstrated exemplary capabilities of being an entrepreneur and leader at the same time.

A staunch believer in the fact that IT on one hand is a key differentiator and an enabler in his organization and on the other hand a profit center by itself, Mr Madhivanan is an epitome of confidence, a rare asset demonstrated by a leader in all challenging situations during the ups and downs of a growing enterprise like 3iInfotech.
