The American multinational semiconductor company Qualcomm, has recently made an announcement of a new prototype and trial system for 5G connectivity, known as 5G New Radio (NR) prototype system. The system by Qualcomm is used to test, demonstrate, and trial 5G designs to drive the data standard adoption.
How it works- Operates in the sub-6GHz spectrum bands, the 5G NR prototype system is being utilized to showcase the company’s 5G designs to efficiently achieve multi-gigabit per second data rates and low latency. The 5G will make the best use of a wide range of spectrum bands, and Qualcomm feels utilizing spectrum bands below 6GHz is a critical part of allowing for flexible deployments with stable network coverage. The prototype system will closely track 3GPP progress to help mobile operators and industry players trial their 5G service offerings. The 5G NR prototype system consists of both a base station and user equipment, and supports wide RF bandwidths over 100 MHz, capable of delivering multi-gigabit per second data rates. It also supports a new integrated subframe design for significantly lower over-the-air latency than what is possible in today’s 4G LTE network.
The company will be publicly demonstrating the prototype system for the first time at Mobile World Congress Shanghai, from June 29 to July 1, at the China Mobile Communications Corporations booth.
