Nest Secure: The Home of the Future?

Nest Secure: The Home of the Future?
The Silicon Review
03 October, 2017

One of the flag bearers of home automation, Nest Labs introduced its first product, the Nest Learning Thermostat in 2011. Since then it has come a long way with smoke detectors and security cameras being its most popular products. The company took the digital world by storm in September 2017 when it announced the launch of its comprehensive home security system Nest Secure.

A path breaking product, the system will consist of Nest Guard, Nest Detect and Nest Tag. The Nest Guard which comprises of an alarm, a keypad and a motion sensor will function as the brain of the system. The Nest Detect sensor will be on constant guard looking out for doors and windows. It can tell you if a particular window is open or closed and also update you about motion in the room. With the Nest Tag, you can allow someone in at certain times and deny the same person access at other times (if you so wish).

As expected the system comes with an app using which you can monitor what is going on in your home. The icing on the cake is the fact that the system does more than just sense. With features like Quiet Open and provisions for lighting up of pathways at night, it is designed to simplify modern living. Scheduled to hit the stores on November 2017, Nest Secure promises to be a turning point in the future of home automation.
