Karnataka govt assures to proffer complete support to Apple to make iPhone SE in India

Putting across their pleasure over US tech giant Apple Incs choice to commence initial production of iPhone SE in the city, the Karnataka government recently assured full support to the company.

"I am delighted to know that one of the most valuable technology companies in the world Apple has decided to manufacture its iPhone SE models in Bengaluru. I congratulate the Apple team for their decision and making the project a reality," State Industries Minister R V Deshpande said. "The iPhone SE model is very well admired and in high demand globally.

“It is a matter of great pride that in future these phones will be available globally with a Made in India seal," he said in a statement. Apple Inc had recently stated that it is starting first production of a "small number" of iPhone SE in the city and while the shipping to domestic customers will commence this month.

"We are beginning initial production of a small number of iPhone SE in Bengaluru. iPhone SE is the most popular and  powerful phone with a four-inch display in the world and well begin shipping to domestic customers this month," Apple told PTI.  Mentioning that the government has offered and guaranteed complete support for Apples manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Deshpande said it is significant to note that there was inflexible competition among states to get this project.

"The fact that Apple chose Karnataka has yet again affirmed Karnatakas investment attractiveness and business friendly environment," he said. The government of Karnataka made an announcement in the month of February stating Apple Inc’s proposal to begin first manufacturing operations in Bengaluru. The phones will be manufactured by a Taiwanese OEM for Apple at Peenya in the city called as Wistron, The Minister has also articulated its hope that the shift will enhance job creation and augment improvement and technology ecosystem in the state.

The company also has announced opening of App Accelerator in Bengaluru, the move would be an proposal and an initiative that would offer support to Indian developers and facilitate them alter the  design and performance of their apps on its mobile operating  system iOS.
