Georgia Tech announces Adidas as its new apparel partner

Georgia Tech confirmed its six-year apparel arrangement with Adidas as the exclusive provider for its athletic programs. Georgia Tech had made it clearly evident that they were ready to move to a new apparel partner after their deal with Russell Athletic expires in June.

Adidas will serve as the exclusive supplier for uniforms, apparel, footwear and other accessories for all sports programs. Mark King, The North American President of Adidas claimed that the deal was a necessary and fortunate step in strengthening the company’s foothold in the South.

Despite rumours regarding a deal with Nike and Under Armour, Georgia Tech announced its deal with Adidas which would be effective from July 1, 2018.

Todd Stansbury, Georgia Tech’s athletic director, said in a statement, “We look forward to collaborating with Adidas to provide our student-athletes and fans with the most cutting-edge athletic gear in the marketplace and to amplify the Georgia Tech athletics brand in Atlanta and beyond.”

With this deal, Georgia Tech can move up marketing channels and promotional opportunities aided by their new partner. Adidas can also boast the addition of another college football program to its list with Miami, Mississippi State and NC State.

Adidas has started meeting with the football coach Paul Johnson for their new football uniforms. Adidas is known for sporting different looks for all their partners and will surely create apparels suitable for Georgia Tech.
