Popular messaging app WhatsApp is gathering lot of attention for updating it features and getting improved with all new additions. And now, there is a buzz that it is working on an enhanced Status feature that is currently under beta testing. According to \WaBetaInfo\ (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that trail changes in WhatsApp's beta builds will soon allow users to download a GIFs directly in the chat, if they have links for the same.

Highlighting the direct GIF download feature, an image tweeted by WaBetaInfo shows a beta build (version 2.17.132) of WhatsApp on Android. As of now, WhatsApp includes GIF support but the same cannot be viewed via shared links. When a user gets a link for a GIF, they have to open it in the mobile browser to view/download the GIF. After the update, users will be able view the GIFs directly in the app by clicking on the 'Tap to download' option.

Well, if the reports that came out earlier this month is to believed WhatsApp is planning to enter the mobile payments segment in India . Also, the popular messaging app is supposedly preparing self to launch a payment system in the country, which will likely be based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform. If launched, it would be the first such offering from the social networking giant.

Without mentioning the sources, a report by The Ken website claimed that within next few months, the WhatsApp is all set to come up with a person-to-person payment system in India. Further, a job advertisement on the company's website said that it's looking for a candidate with a technical and financial background - who can understand India's UPI platform and the BHIM payments app to be its digital transactions lead for the country.
