Fortnite Battle Royale will be available on iOS and Android with cross play support

Epic Games has made an announcement revealing that Fortnite will expand beyond its home on consoles and support cross-play and cross-progression between PS 4, PC, Mac, iOS and its Android versions. The popular game is still going to be in its trial phase as the company says that the players will be added over the coming months. Fortnite Mobile will be launched for iOS next week and players can begin signing up for an invite to play the game on iOS.

Though Microsoft does support this cross-platform play, Sony is not keen on the PS4 vs. Xbox One gaming. But Microsoft has confirmed that it will work with Epic Games to enable this in the future. Fortnite Battle Royale is already one of the most popular games in the world, and making it available to the huge gaming population through iOS and Android might give it a complete dominance of the gaming market.

A Microsoft spokesperson said, “We have been working closely with the team at Epic Games for some time to bring this functionality to all current and future versions of Fortnite and expect it to be available on Xbox along with other platforms. Microsoft has long been a leading voice in encouraging the adoption of cross-platform play and the potential of connecting players across PC, mobile and all consoles.

Epic Games has promised that the free-to-play multiplayer game will be the same across the phones and tablets with the same gameplay, content and maps.
