Spotify’s web player facing trouble supporting Apple’s Safari browser

Spotify is facing trouble making it hard to work with Apple. The music streaming service Spotify has faced a recent blunder. The web player of Spotify no longer supports the web browser of Apple, Safari. Safari users who attempt to use Spotify are being redirected to use another browser. So, if you are an Apple person and use Safari to listen to Spotify tunes then you’re going to need a Plan-B.

When asked the customer support of Spotify it could only say that the ‘recent updates’ have caused this issue, it couldn’t say when it will be fixed. It seems, Spotify is not taking the issue seriously. The company’s system requirements page now states that it only supports Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera.

According to Mac Generation, a French website, the change could be due to a Spotify’s plug-in called Widevine Content Decryption Module, which Spotify uses but Safari doesn’t support.

“We’re always testing things by adding or removing features to make Spotify better overall,” said Spotify Customer Support. “We are sorry that this means you’re not able to use the Web Player like you could before. We can’t say if or when any specific features will be back.”

Users can still enjoy Spotify using one of its official apps or log into Spotify using another browser. But, Safari users are still annoyed with the bug and expecting to be fixed as soon as possible.
