SAP to Assist Agricultural Supply Chains

SAP to Assist Agricultural Supply Chains
The Silicon Review
17 May, 2018

Earlier this week, SAP has announced its new initiative towards supply chain industry. According to the company, the Farm to Consumer agricultural supply chains initiative will be powered by the company’s blockchain technology. There are few companies such as Johnsonville, Naturipe Farms, and Maple Leaf which will also support them throughout the project.

“The Farm to Consumer project perfectly showcases a common pattern we see in many of our blockchain projects,” says Torsten Zube, SAP’s blockchain lead.

The company’s new initiative will patch up blockchain and Global Track and Trace technology.  It will pave a way for other companies to keep an eye on food products, apply requests and offerings, and check and carry out transactions.

Additionally, SAP has made an announcement of joining hands with a Swiss Startup called “Modum” to expand its supply chain ventures. And the company will also reveal its work on pilot projects in June this year.

“Cross-company collaboration along complex value chains for which the technology can remove abundant process steps and friction, and establish automated trust,” added Mr. Zube.

Previously, the company has also rolled out a different initiative called "blockchain co-innovation initiative" for exploring business processes. The firm is also a part of Spain’s Alastria association team which looks after data sharing of many firms and the Blockchain in Trucking Alliance.
