After some discouraging responses from venture capitalists, Pradeep Sindhu, Founder, managed to secure financing for his company, and Juniper Networks was incorporated February 6, 1996, in California. Instead of starting small like many startups, Juniper Networks decided upon what would become its signature approach — tackle the toughest problem and solve it once.
The company’s first product, the revolutionary M40 router which shipped in September of 1998, did just that. The M40 far surpassed all other routers on the market and established Juniper’s position as an innovative and serious player in the hardware market. Developing the M40 was a major undertaking that required two years of research and work. During that time, to keep venture capitalists and customers happy, Juniper Networks developed what would later become its major differentiator and the basis for all future innovation — Junos Platform.
Juniper Networks went public on June 25, 1999. It was one of the most successful initial public offerings in history. Since this auspicious beginning, Juniper Networks has continued to grow and innovate; releasing new product, developing new technologies based on customer’s needs, and remaining at the forefront of high-performance networking.

To keep up with growth and support the next wave of services for customers, Internap needed to revitalize its network and lower operational overhead. Internap deployed Juniper routing and switching solutions for its next-generation downstream edge network. Internap’s network follows a hub-and-spoke architecture, with the SDN-ready MX960 3D Universal Edge Router as the hub and EX4200 and EX4550 Ethernet Switches as the spokes. Meet the Leadership Team
Rami Rahim, Chief Executive Officer – Rami began his Juniper career in early 1997, as employee No. 32. He progressed through a series of technical and leadership roles at Juniper, applying his engineering acumen to the design and development of Juniper’s industry-leading product portfolio. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Juniper Development and Innovation (JDI) organization, overseeing the company’s entire product and technology portfolio. His responsibilities included driving strategy, development and business growth for routing, switching, security, silicon technology, and the Junos operating system. Other leadership positions held over the years include: Executive Vice President and General Manager of Platform Systems Division for routing and switching, Senior Vice President of the Edge and Aggregation Business Unit (EABU), and Vice President and General Manager of EABU. Rahim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He completed an intensive six-week executive program at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Rahim holds 17 U.S. Patents in networking technologies and is a member of IEEE.
Pradeep Sindhu, Founder, Vice Chairman, and CTO – Pradeep founded Juniper Networks in February 1996, and has held several central roles in shaping the company. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer, and is responsible for the company’s technical roadmap as well as day-to-day design and development of future products. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for eight months when he founded the company. Before founding Juniper Networks, Dr. Sindhu was a Principal Scientist and Distinguished Engineer at the Computer Science Lab at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), where he worked on design tools for VLSI and high-speed interconnects for shared-memory multiprocessors. His key roles in the architecture, design, and development of these machines led to the commercial development of Sun Microsystems’ first high-performance multiprocessor system family, which included the SS1000 and SS2000. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, as well as a master’s degree in the same discipline from the University of Hawaii. In addition, Pradeep holds both a master’s and a doctorate degree in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.
