The new tech that encodes and processes video orders of magnitude that is faster than current methods
The Silicon Review
24 October, 2018

Scientists from the University of San Diego have now invented a new tech that is said to encode, edit and transform video way faster than current methods. The work was presented at ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing which was on Oct 11 to 13 in Carlsbad. Users and innovators are saying this is a great method and a brilliant solution for modern times. This system is called the Sprocket. It breaks down video files into extremely smaller pieces which are then moved to thousands of servers every few thousands of a second for processing. Here two hours of video can be processed in 30 seconds that is great compared to a ten minutes time frame.

The entire process operates on the cloud and has been allowing users to develop and harness a large amount of computing power in a very short time frame. The credit for this new innovation goes to CSE graduate students – LixiangAo and Liz Izhikevich. The Sprocket is cost effective and is considered to be very cheap. This is certainly a green sign for many as all the users can afford to buy it since it might come around $1 or lesser. So every user can afford it, let us see how things work out in the market.
