Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Plans to Build Hyperloop Track in the UAE

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT), a US-based company has made an announcement that it will start constructing an ultra-fast Hyperloop track in the UAE. In the third quarter of 2019, the company will start its operation in Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made public on Wednesday.

The financial terms of the project were not announced.

According to HyperloopTT, the operation will be carried out by Al-Handasah, a design and engineering firm. The firm has invested in the US-based business.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies utilizes magnets. The magnets help the pods to float inside an airless tube. After that, suitable conditions are being created where the pods can shuttle people and freight at speeds of up to 750 miles (1,200 km)/ hour.

The technology is proposed as a replacement for the current rail infrastructure. Hyperloop TT made an agreement with Aldar Properties (controlled by the state) to construct a 10 Km long track near the border with Dubai.

Earlier, in 2016, HyperloopTT signed a contract with the municipal affairs in Abu Dhabi. The contract allowed them to carry out a feasibility study for connecting Abu Dhabi city with Al Ain. Dubai supports rival virgin Hyperloop One to construct the futuristic transportation system.

The concept of Hyperloop is openly explained by Elon Mask and SpaceX. While others have been encouraged to take the ideas and further develop them.
