China Intends to Build Earth’s First AI Colony

China’s mission to build colonies of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will start soon. As per sources, the country’s president Xi Jinping spoke to the media and revealed that the AI-based colonies will be used for defense operations and unnamed submarine science.

Earlier, the project for the AI colony mission was launched at The Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. The estimated cost of the project is $160M. The project is known as deep sea Atlantis. To develop the project, the scientists will extract samples from the seabed and send the reports for further research.

There is no information about the project’s location yet. But, a report suggests that AI colony will be set up in the Manila Trench near the Philippines.

According to Yan Pin, professor, and researcher at The Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guangzhou, Manila is the perfect place to develop the project as the requirements for the deep sea matches with the place. With a depth exceeding 5,000 meters, it is only placed in the South China Sea which provides good sea depth for the project.

One of the disputed waterways in the Asian sub-continent, the South China Sea probably is the appropriate destination for future research. Apart from this, volcanic activities often occur in Manila Trench followed by threats of earth quakes. If an earthquake strikes the place then, there is a possibility of a Tsunami and it can hamper the project under water.

Nevertheless, if the AI colony project is successfully completed then it will spearhead China’s aggressive stance on AI and related tech.
