Cisco Systems teams up with Amazon to help businesses run apps in the cloud
The Silicon Review
09 November, 2018

Cisco Systems is teaming up with Amazon Web Services, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc.The partnership will help Cisco Systems to provide software tools for their customers. With that, the customers can use Amazon’s data centers to operate their business applications seamlessly. The announcement was made public on Thursday.

The companyis one of the biggest manufacturers of routers and switches that help computer networks to share data. The partnership will help Cisco Systems to push their business in other areas too. It will help to build its portfolio with customers that are looking to work with cloud computing companies like Amazon, Alphabet Inc’s Google Cloud unit or Microsoft Corp’s Azure.

Cisco Systems has rolled out new software called containers. Containers will help developers to slice up applications to run them either in their own data centers, where they might use a lot of Cisco gear, or a similar cloud data center which is offered by Amazon Web Services. Developers can also use both.

The new tools of Cisco Systems are embedded with a technology which allows businesses to move their software applications back and forth between Amazon and their own data center quickly without any disruptions.

In 2017, Cisco Systems made a similar deal with Google’s cloud offering. Big players like Microsoft and IBM are using the hybrid cloud (a mix of a business’s own data centers and the cloud) to grow their businesses.
