Facebook Messenger to add unse...Most of us who have used any type of messaging service have faced embarrassing situations where we sent a message to the wrong person. It could be harmless most of the times, but sometimes it could result in serious consequences like getting fired, or a breakup in a relationship, or worse, legal trouble in case the message contained sensitive material. However, when it comes to Facebook Messenger, users pretty soon won’t have to worry about the wrong person receiving your messages. Facebook is all set to launch the unsend feature from its messaging service. As the name indicates, it will allow users to remove sent messages from their recipient’s inbox.
This feature was indeed a long time coming and people were definitely curious as to why it wasn’t rolled out sooner, especially in light of the fact of Facebook’s massive base of users. However, only the messages that have been sent in the past ten minutes can be retracted and not older ones. The unsend feature also will result in an indication that tells the recipient that a message was deleted. This feature is put in place in an effort to fight cyberbullying, which is growing concern all over the world, especially among teens and young adults. Additionally, the “unsent” messages will be retained by Facebook for a limited amount of time, so that bullies won’t be able to cover their tracks and victims can report it, allowing for an investigation.
This is definitely good news for all users and it is about time the social media giant launched it.
