After Note 7’s exploding batteries, Samsung has a new mole to worry about

After Note 7’s exploding batteries, Samsung has a new mole to worry about

A mere few days after the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+, reports started flowing in on the social media by users complaining about “dead zones” on the display. Among the two flagships phones, it seems that more reports are being registered by S9+ users rather than S9 users.

"Does anyone else have issues with the Galaxy S9 touchscreen? I've got a few dead spots on the bottom half of my screen," one of the Galaxy S9 user reports on the Samsung Community. Few users on Reddit even mentioned that the issue persists even after performing a factory reset.

Apparently there is no particular area where this issue prominently occurs, instead, it occurs in different zones for different users. The problem reportedly occurs when users switch to landscape mode or when they use swipe gestures.

While further investigation is conducted by Samsung, users who have spent hundreds of dollars for their shiny new flagship are kept in a buffer of tension.

Last year, Google’s Pixel 2 had screen burn-in issues and Apple’s screen froze at low temperatures. This trend shows that more research is needed on OLED screens to make them less susceptible to frequent and unexpected breakdowns.
