Phone Technology That Detects ...The Brigham and Women's Hospital was the source of the news. The scientists have designed an affordable and portable mobile diagnostic tool that can be used in a mobile phone which will detect HIV viruses. This uses a nanotechnology that is said to monitor the virus spreading and the management is said to produce the resource in limited regions.
It is still a major global health challenge to manage the human immunodeficiency virus that is constantly spreading. But it is more difficult to figure out how to detect it. The senior author Hadi Shafiee said, "Early detection of HIV is critical to prevent disease progression and transmission, and it requires long-term monitoring, which can be a burden for families that have to travel to reach a clinic or hospital". He holds a PhD and is the principal investigator in the Division of Engineering in Medicine and Renal Division of Medicine at the Brigham. He also said that this new innovative technology which is the mobile phone system will be representing a new method for detecting acute infection. Surely many would consider this as a huge tool and they should since the infection doesn’t seem to stop. Now it will help in reducing the risk of virus transmission and could also be used to detect early treatment failure in the present and in the future.
