Nick Bell, a Snapchat exec who designed Snapchat Discover is leaving the company

Nick Bell, Snapchat’s VP of content and the brain behind the Snapchat’s Discover section, is reportedly departing from the company. Bell has worked for more than four years in the company. He has announced about his departure from the company internally. “After nearly 5 years and a once in a lifetime ride, I have informed Evan that I am leaving Snap to take some time off to rejuvenate before deciding on my next adventure,” he mentioned in an official email.

Bell was in charge of all ofthe contents displayed in Snapchat Discover. Moreover, he looked after partnerships that brought deals to publish original contents featured in the Discover section. The company has numerous high-profile deals in place with publishers like NBC, the Daily Mail, ESPN etc.  The content published in the Discover section has certain flaws like the content is observed to be racy or tabloid-y. Nevertheless, Snapchat is still making money from the deals.

Though Bell has not made any announcement in public, the news of his leaving the company has been in discussions for months now. Nick is stepping down after some recent management changes and four-plus roller-coaster years of his service. “We are so grateful for Nick and everything he has built at Snap,” said Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap Inc.  He further added that the company will miss Nick as his contribution to the company was tremendous.
