Excelsior! Stan Lee: Comics Legend, Trailblazer, and the Marvel Man Passes Away

“With great power comes great responsibility. ”These words resonate with every person who knows Spider-Man one way or another.  And the man who made this line famous was the visionary comic book writer Stan Lee.

The genius who created “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man” along with other famous Marvel heroes like Iron Man, Thor and X-Men passed away on Monday at the age of 95 in Los Angeles.

Stan Lee didn’t just revolutionize the comic book world; he created a universe with strong relatable characters, emotions, depth, challenges, and choices.  He gave birth to heroes who were flawed, had grey sides and self-doubts and who were more human than god. Heroes who were average people whom we could look up to.

Mr.Lee along with artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko created a wormhole for kids and adults, to escape to an adventure, to experience friendship, joy, love, and hope. He was the childhood for millions of people and helped build a multi-billion dollar corporation which has largely defined the 21st-century pop culture.

Though Mr. Lee himself was flawed and was criticized for denying royalties and not properly acknowledging the valuable contributions of other comic book artists like Mr. Kirby and Mr. Ditko, one cannot deny the fact that he was a true visionary who left an incredible mark in our world.

With his frequent and often funny cameos, Stan Lee made sure every Marvel fan would always remember him and his legacy lives on.

Mr. Lee with his unwavering energy, humor,and brilliance has left a void with his passing. So to every fan out there, let's say goodbye to Stan Lee in his style—“Face front, True Believers! Excelsior!”
