SnapChat Introduces Group Video Chat
The Silicon Review
04 April, 2018

Yet again, SnapChat, the mobile app hugely popular among the younger generation, has come up with a new feature, which would allow users to conduct a video call with multiple users at the same time, in the hopes that video calling will now become more “fun”.

"Today, we're excited to introduce Group Video Chat on Snapchat!” The company stated in their blog-post on Tuesday.

With just a tap on the video icon, you can add upto 16 friends who can simultaneously interact with each other. While the less data intensive, group audio calling, supports upto 32 members to added at the same time

“Friends have the option to join a Group call just with voice too, or toggle between video and voice, if they aren't camera ready.” The blogpost included.

There’s another feature that’s rolling out along with the group video chat called “mentions”, in which users can tag their friends in Snaps which have been added as stories.

Group Video Chat and Mentions will roll out together, globally in the coming weeks.

It would be interesting to see if with all this new updates, SnapChat amuses it users or ends up leaving them in utter confusion.
