Better Late Than Never: Finally, Apple Launched Its “Preorder App” Feature

Better Late Than Never: Finally, Apple Launched Its “Preorder App” Feature
The Silicon Review
12 December, 2017

Every time a new product comes up in the market people preorder to have it exactly on time. We have preordered phones, books, movies, laptops and what not. But, what if I tell you, you can now preorder your iPhone Apps.

Yes, you heard it right! Apple has launched a new feature in the App Store that let its users preorder upcoming games and apps. The support document from Apple says that as of now the ability to pre-order apps is available on all Apple platforms.

The new feature lets a developer put its app in the App Store up to 90 days in advance of its release. Once the app is up, users will be able to preorder the app and have it delivered when it’s ready and launched. The feature is available on all iterations of the App Store, so iOS, macOS, and even tvOS apps can be preordered.

Whether free or paid, developers can offer preorders for both types of apps. In case the price of the app changes during the preorder period, users will be charged whichever is lower and they won’t be charged until the app downloads. Isn’t that great?

This basic feature by Apple is going to be helpful for developers trying to draw attention to their new app. It’s a huge help to be able to point people to where they can actually get it — and let people buy it ahead of time so that they don’t forget.

But, the bottom line is that Apple took nearly a decade to launch this feature which is kind of puzzling the iOS users across the world.
