Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons Officially Crossing Over This Fall

Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons Officially Crossing Over This Fall
The Silicon Review
24 July, 2018

It’s been 20 years that Wizards of the Coast has bought Dungeons & Dragons but the American fantasy game publisher have never explored the crossover between the company and its most popular product: Magic: The Gathering. And the answer has always been that they were two different products existed in their own worlds.

But that is not true anymore! On 23rd July, Amazon has unveiled a product listing featuring Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica, a new campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons that supplement for playing on Ravnica. Wizards of the Coast have announced that Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica will be available in game stores on 9th November and to the public on 20th November.

As a Magic: the Gathering setting, Ravnica was first introduced back in 2007. Dominated by ten guilds, Ravnica is a world-sized city where each of the guilds stands for a fusion of two of Magic’s colors of mana.

Previously, Dungeons & Dragons announced that it would be releasing a new campaign setting for the 5th Edition earlier this year, but fans did expect that it would be a Magic: The Gathering world rather than a setting that was introduced in the previous versions of the game.

According to game critics, this isn’t the first official crossover material. Former D&D writer James Wyatt has worked previously with the Magic: The Gathering team and has released few Magic settings that have put out a small and free digital supplement about playing Dungeons & Dragons on each of those worlds.
