Infosys launches a new technology and innovation hub in the U.S.
The Silicon Review
23 August, 2018

Indian software services giant Infosys announced that it has launched a hub of technology and innovation in the state of North Carolina in the United States. This makes it the company’s third hub in the U.S, and the first in North Carolina, with the other two being in Indianapolis and Connecticut. Headquartered in Bangalore, Infosys had announced last year that it would hire over 10,000 Americans and open four centres in the United States.

“We are delighted to establish our presence here in North Carolina, which is already home to a highly skilled technology workforce and strong higher education ecosystem and thank Governor Roy Cooper for his support,” said Salil Parekh, chief executive officer, Infosys. This new strategy is formulated in response to President Donald Trump’s policy of “Americans First” and is aimed at tackling issues that have risen in India. Since last year, the company has recruited close to 5,000 Americans for its new technology hubs.

Located in the city of Raleigh, which also happens to be the capital of the state of North Carolina, the innovation centre would help Infosys with its operations with regional clients and propel development in major areas that include artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and big data. Furthermore, the centres will also train clients’ employees to help American companies.
