Sony's Robot Dog: Finally Enters the US Market
The Silicon Review
24 August, 2018

It has been 12 years that the Robot Dog Aibo was available in the US market. Finally, it is back and is expected to sell a lot. The Robot Dog was initially released in the 1990s in Japan. But later many competitors hit their products on the market that sold well since it was cheap. In 2017 Sony had developed a smarter version with OLED eyes tagged with face recognition. Further, artificial intelligence also has its part in playing in the robot that develops the personality of the robot dog. The highlighting features of the dog are that it has cameras and image sensors that will analyze various sound and images. All in all, the robot dog is the best companion to have for those who want a dog but do not want the messy problems that come with it.

In the past, the company has sold over 20,000 robot dogs in Japan. Many will wonder the numbers don’t add up, how is it such a famous product and yet the sales are just 20,000. Well, it is because of the price tag, it costs ¥198,000 ($1,780) but it will be available for $2,899. This is a luxury product and it actually is worth the money. With its new features, it is expected to make a mark in the market yet again. Let us see if that really happens.
