Mobile Phones Maybe Under Siege Because Of Robocalls Epidemic
The Silicon Review
09 July, 2018

Many unfamiliar numbers show up in your phones every single day. These calls can come from con artists or telemarketers, who offer a “free” resort vacation, some give threats in mandarin and sometimes demand payment of taxes. This is surely a problem because it may lead to some bigger problems in the future.

The best solution for all this is to implement the latest technology that comes in the form of call-blocking apps that intercept numbers. These numbers will be blacklisted and hence are sent to voice mail or prevent them from getting through unless the called enters certain numbers. The auto-dialler can’t do that and hence creates a good barrier against these robocalls. As of now, the Federal Trade Commission took a step to reduce the number of illegal robocalls by lodging a complaint against few companies in the federal court. By switching fake caller IDs, these phoneys get into the telecom system. As of now, the telecom industry is working to get better call-verification system that will assign a certificate of authentication to every single telephone.

It is observed that in May alone, these swindlers have caused 130 million intrusive automated messages and 12.5 calls per person. This is not a good sign and there have to be certain measures that need to be taken soon in order to avoid these problems, both the telecom industry and the government are planning something, let us see if they can help us solve these problems.
