The Possible US Carrier Deal as OnePlus Plans on releasing its 5G Phones Next Year

The Possible US Carrier Deal as OnePlus Plans on releasing its 5G Phones Next Year
The Silicon Review
29 June, 2018

OnePlus managed to develop itself in the flagship market through the new OnePlus 6 phone. Keep in mind these phones are directly sold to the consumer as unlocked devices. Hence, the CEO and co-founder Pete Lau has planned to strike a deal with the US carriers to roll out its first 5G phone according to PCMag reports. The company will release its new 5G phones within the next year. OnePlus is working closely with Qualcomm to implement the most powerful and latest SoC in its phones. Eventually, this makes OnePlus the first to roll out phones with 5G connectivity in the present market.

Although, US carriers are not expected to begin consumer deployment of 5G phones until 2019 because the initial market will be extremely limited. Not to mention the devices released in the first round will have low Wi-Fi connectivity. OnePlus follows a tradition of releasing its phones two times a year. So we can expect a 4G release in the start of 2019 and a new version of 5Gs later in 2019.

Lau feels by carrier sales in the US, people would try OnePlus phones before buying them and is confident that the company’s speedy software will win them over. Also, the CEO dismissed concerns over any sort of carrier overloading OnePlus phones with bloatware. Let us see if OnePlus’ plane works out.
