Apple Rolls out a New Healthcare App Called Attain
The Silicon Review
30 January, 2019

Apple has rolled out a new healthcare app in collaboration with Aetna, ahealth insurance provider company. Both the companies joined hands in 2016 and soon after that90 %of participants in a study reported a health benefit from using their Apple Watch. Therefore, the new app launch originates from the previous partnership between the two companies.

The app can be used by both iPhone and Apple Watch users and will be in the market this spring.

Dubbed as Attain, the app utilizes Apple Watch Data to provide a window into user’s health. It has four sections which are divided into attaining activity goals; supporting daily health, personalized health notifications, and points for achievements.

A user who would use the app will get customized activity goals according to their age, gender, and weight. The app will also keep a track on other potential activities like swimming and yoga through the Apple watch.

The app will also offer challenges for users where they can earn points for completing tasks like getting adequate sleep, completing meditation and monitoring and changing their food habits. It will recommend health actions based on the user's health reports.

The users who are not registered with Aetna can also use the app in the Apple Watch through other wellness programs like United Healthcare's. Once the users register themselves with the Attain app can share their data and health history with Apple.

The reward program is only for Aetna members who own an iPhone 5s or the latest versionor an Apple Watch Series 1 or later.
