Tech behemoth Google will stop manufacturing its Wi-Fi powered audio streaming dongle-Chromecast audio. The tiny device which is used by users to stream music on their speakers was launched in 2015.
With Chrome cast audio users were able to turn their simple speakers into a smart and wireless one by simply connecting Chrome cast audio through a 3.55mm headphone jack. The device also supported multi-room configurations, allowing the users to stream the same content in different rooms.
According to the company, one can still buy the product at $15 on the online store, the US until stocks last. The current Chromecast users will continue to reap the benefits from Google as the company has promised to provide support for them, but has not unveiled the exact timeline about the support duration. Initially, the device was sold at $35.
But for the Indian users, it will be difficult to but from the online merchants as everything is totally sold out on websites like Flipkart, Chroma and Reliance Digital. One could be lucky if they get it in a physical store.
The company has not launched any new device as the backup for Chromecast yet.
Amazon has created a similar device like Chromecast but the cost is double than Chromecast. The device by Amazon is equipped with a virtual assistant though. If someone is in need of a device which could convert their ordinary speakers into a smart one, they can head to the market as there are many Bluetooth adapters available similar to Chromecast.
