People today are obsessed with social media. The craze of Instagram has made people so engrossed in posting about their everyday whereabouts. Netflix, one of the most loved online streaming platforms has tapped this opportunity to advertise their content on Instagram in form of stories.
Netflix now allows sharing what users are binge-watching on the app as their Instagram story. This new integration lets the Netflix fans to become an ad for their favorite shows. What an interesting way to promote shows! Users can now share a movie’s artwork or show to their Instagram Story after clicking on the “share” button. When others will view the story, they will see a link as “watch on Netflix” that will direct them to the app if they are already a member on Netflix. Right now, the integration is being launched only for iOS users. Android users need to wait for a while until it is launched for them as well.
This new feature is a win-win case for both the companies. On one hand, Netflix gets to freely advertise its shows on one of the most popular social media apps, whereas, on the other hand, Instagram is getting the opportunity to integrate to the major entertainment app. The Verge published last year in June that Instagram has 1 billion users worldwide. Hence, reaching out to the mass is easier with such a strategy!
