PepsiCo made an announcement that it is going to launch snack-carrying robots to provide snacks on the go for the students of the University of the Pacific in California. The robots called “snackbots” are designed to carry an array of snacks and beverages which includes Baked Lays, Pure Leaf Tea, Smartfood Delight popcorn, Starbucks Cold Brew drinks.

Students can order snacks using the iOS app and get them delivered to certain locations around the 175-acre campus between 9 AM to 5 PM.Although using machines to deliver food is not a new idea, PepsiCo claims that it is the largest company that has utilized robotics science in food delivery management. The snackbots are similar to any other delivery machine deployed beforebut implementing this in a college campus is a pretty interesting idea.

Once it is fully charged, the robot can travel 20 miles and they are inbuilt with cameras and headlights. Once the robot reaches the destined location, the student can collect their order opening the green lid on the top.

Students are quite impressed with the idea and they are calling the robot a “hero” and a “legend” on Facebook. Right now, the app is only available for iOS users having a valid university email ID.
