Satya Nadella considered the best CEO

For the longest time, CEOs of large technology corporations have been hailed as titans of industries, visionary mavericks who direct the pace of technological progress and steer industries. Until the eighties, the most valuable companies on the stock market were energy and oil companies but after the digital revolution and rise of personal computing software, it was technology companies on the top of wall street. The status of tech CEOs was further elevated after Steve Jobs returned to Apple after his disgraceful departure and turned the company around from being on the verge of bankruptcy to the most valuable company.

Microsoft, one the pioneers of the software revolution has seen its share of ups and downs, with a highly tumultuous journey and stagnating share prices under the leadership of Steve Ballmer. Microsoft brought Satya Nadella on board to helm the company in 2014 and after four years as CEO, Nadella has turned around the struggling tech giant and made it into the world’s most valuable company. In a time when tech CEOs have come under increasing scrutiny for various reasons that range from misuse of user data, low wage to employees in contrast to extremely high compensation packages, unethical use of technology and so on, Satya Nadella has been the quiet driving force behind Microsoft’s rise.

The unassuming CEO took over when Microsoft was reeling under its acquisition of Nokia, which was followed by its failed smartphone and failed Windows 8 operating system. Nadella decided to jettison the smartphone division and focus instead on the cloud market and the Surface line of tablets. These decisions have paid off as Microsoft has risen to the top once more since 1999. There can be little doubt that Satya Nadella is indeed, the best tech CEO.
