Meizu Unveils the World’s first holeless Smartphone
The Silicon Review
25 January, 2019

The world’s first holeless smartphone is here. Dubbed as Meizu Zero, it doesn’t incorporate any ports or holes in it. Therefore it relies on the wireless technology to function.

According to Meizu, it will be the world’s first seamless, uninterrupted phone. The phone has no lines, no ports - not a single interruption in its design.

But, the new smartphone depends upon a few conventional technologies. Without a notch display; it is has a slim forehead and its chin is there for giving it a uniform design. Its 5.99-inch display is OLED powered and comes with a fingerprint scanner. The phone runs on a Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with an LPDDR4X RAM.

The phone has a dual camera setup powered by Sony's IMX380 + IMX350 and has a 20MP front camera. The phone doesn’t have any volume keys or power buttons. A sensor is encompassed for volume and power control. There are no grilles or speakers on the phone; the phone screen transmits audio through piezoelectric transducers.

If the users need to charge the phone, they need to use a wireless charger. The phone is equipped with built-in support for a fast wireless charging. There are no sim card slots in Meizu zero; instead, the phone depends on eSIM technology. Therefore, zero is the first phone to use eSIM connectivity.

The phone is under development from two years and the company has termed as a concept device for now.
