Xiaomi to produce its own chipsets

Xiaomi to produce its own chipsets
The Silicon Review
08 March, 2017

Beijing headquartered Chinese electronics giant ‘Xiaomi’ is all set to take major stride as a smartphone manufacturer. Yes you heard it right! Very soon the company will be launching its own line of chipsets. Before them, the major step is been taken by only three manufacturers so far namely Huawei, Samsung and Apple.

It is said that for this step, the company made a joint alliance with ‘Leadcore’ a Chinese chipset maker to shape a combined body named Pinecone. Xiaomi will own a major share of 51 per cent in the company. Well, there were speculations that Xiaomi Mi5c will be the first gadget to have a Pinecone chipset but a few reports from Gsmarena proposed that the device will come with Snapdragon 625 instead.

The launch is scheduled for the last day of the current month.

The success graph of Xiaomi is quite visible now. Few years back, described as the rip-off of Apple, the Chinese start-up has made it to the top by beating it, at least at home. In the year 2015, Xiaomi left behind ‘Apple’ and established itself as top smart phone selling company in China.

Facing the tough competition from tech giant Apple and other players, the company couldn’t hold the top spot as it was not so easy and lost the position among the top three smartphone manufacturers in China in the last quarter of 2016.

Well, the company did not get distracted from any of the external factor. The company still continues to expand its presence in other global markets. Today, it is holds second place in Indian smartphone sales, for Q4 2016.
