Qualcomm Rolls Out New SOCs for Smart Speakers

Qualcomm's new series of SoCs (System on Chip) is available now. Dubbed as QCS400, the new series is exclusively launched for digital assistants, AV receivers, smart speakers,and soundbars.

QCS400 series is fuelled by the company’s own AI engine, Dolby Atmos sound support, enhanced voice recognition, DT: X, and aptX within a single architecture.

During the launch of the new series, the company revealed the names of the SoCs. QCS403 is the first model. It is powered by dual-core CPU and is made specifically for assistants and smart speakers which support upto 12 audio channels. The second model-QCS404 is only made for smart speakers. It is equipped with a quad-core CPU.

QCS403 and QCS404 will not be fuelled by an AI engine, but, the other two models- QCS405 and QCS407 will have AI engine because they are designed for soundbars and AV receivers.

All the models under the QCS400 series will have connectivity like Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Series will support Bluetooth 5.1 and 802.11ax or Wi-Fi 6. There is a wireless protocol chipped inside all the models; specifically made for small networks with low-powered radios. The new chips have improved far-field voice recognition.

The company has also unveiled its new platform for smart audio. The platform is an end-to-end platform created to assist manufacturers; helping them to speed up the development of smart speakers without any problem.
