Clearpath Robotics unveils new Autonomous Warehouse Robot

Clearpath Robotics unveils new Autonomous Warehouse Robot
The Silicon Review
10 April, 2019

Clearpath Robotics, a Canada-based robotics company has created a new autonomous warehouse robot. Dubbed as Otto 750, the self-controlled robotic vehicle is exclusively made for carrying out activities such as moving racks and pallets and other medium-sized payloads through obstacle-strewn environments. The vehicle can carry a payload of maximum 750-kg.

The vehicle measures 1,190 by 1,810 by 400 millimeters in size and is equipped with an array of sensors like a sensor that helps it to map the surrounding. Otto 750 can track reference points without any guides, pre-defined paths or any kind of infrastructure. These are the few features of the vehicle which can accommodate cargo from pallets and bins to cages- turn signals, brake lights, and audible communication tones its intent and its fixed mountain points.

The vehicle uses a standard powered roller to load or unload payloads. It also uses lift attachment to interface with a stand or conveyor system as an alternative to a powered roller. The company’s proprietary Otto OS software takes care of the vehicle while the Otto Fleet Manager is responsible for orchestrating the vehicle routines.

In addition, the robotic vehicles carry out communications with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and other existing systems such as SCADA systems and PLCs.

The company completed its most recent funding round three years back. It raised $41.milllion from investors such as Silicon Valley Bank, RRE Ventures, Caterpillar Ventures, iNovia Bank, and GE Ventures.
