Netflix is coming to New York with its production hub and plans to invest up to $100M in the city

Netflix has announced that it is coming to New York with a big project. The streaming media service is planning to build a production hub in the city and has committed to invest up to $100 million. Netflix also plans to hire hundreds of people for the same.

The new production hub will be built as an extended Manhattan office in Brooklyn, the most populous borough of the Big Apple. It will also includesix sound stages in the area.This will provide thousands of new job opportunitiesfor New Yorkers to work for the production crew in the coming years.

“New York has created a film-friendly environment that’s home to some of the best creative and executive talent in the world, and we’re excited to provide a place for them at Netflix with our production hub,” said Jason Hariton, Director of Worldwide Studio Operations & Real Estate at Netflix, in a statement. The new corporate offices planned by Netflix will be spread across 100,000 sq. feet in Manhattan. It will bring new development,legal,publicity, marketing,executive content acquisition, and production professionals on board who will be joining the existing 32 employees Netflix has in New York.

Netflix already produces a number of shows in New York including Orange Is the New Black,She’s Gotta Have It,Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,Someone Great, etc.
