HTC Plans To Introduce a Second Model of Its Block-Chain Smartphone
The Silicon Review
03 May, 2019

HTC intends to launch its second blockchain-based smartphone. While speaking at a recent event in Taiwan, Phil Chen, the chief officer of HTC said that the company is getting ready to roll out the second generation of its blockchain-based smart Phones called the Exodus, Taiwan News reported.

Earlier in 2018, the first version of Exodus was unveiled at an event called CoinDesk’s Consensus 2018 and was officially launched on the same year itself. The phone has a cryptocurrency wallet and is equipped with decentralised apps. The sales of the smartphone have not been bad at all, Mr Chen revealed at the event.

The company another competitor such as Sirin Labs, an Israel-based company which makes blockchain phones recently removed a quarter of its workforce because of the disappointing sale of its Finney phone.

“The new phone will extend its blockchain apps to include other areas such as browsing, messaging, and social media,” Mr Chen was quoted as by DigiTimes. He also added that the new model will be equipped with new features.  The apps in the phone will further utilize peer-to-peer connections rather than the older process which involved passing through clouds or mainframe boards.

The first model of Exodus was out for sale only with bitcoin and ether at the launch. Later on, fiat currencies were accepted by HTC.

The company along with two partners rolled out a venture capital fund worth $50 million earlier this month.
