ARM Unveils new CPU and GPU for Premium Smartphones of 2020

ARM has unveiled newGPU and CPU for top notched smartphones hitting the market in 2020. The company announced the launch at the 2019 Computex event.

The two new suites of designs for the next year’s smartphones are Cortex-A77 CPU and Mali-G77 GPU. The A77 series has an improved IPC (instructions per clock) performance by 20 percent than the older model; delivering a tangible acceleration in completing complex tasks.

The chips produced from companies such as Samsung, Apple, and Qualcomm runs with two or four heavy cores such as the Cortex-77 and then alongside with more power-efficient cores for carrying out simple operations.

The company has made the new chip more flexible, and users might experience high-performance than expected with just two cores inside the chips.

The older version- Cortex A76 jumped into to the 7nm process node and introduced new microarchitecture to deliver enhanced performance by 25 percent over the A75.The microarchitecture of A77 is based on the A76 model and will be available in the premium smartphones next year.

Coming to the Mali-G77 GPU, it is fuelled by the latest architecture called Valhall. The G77 chip is claimed to have better performance than the older model by 40 percent. Due to microarchitecture enhancements, it is said to have a 30 percent bump in energy efficiency gains. The performance density is also better than the older model; paving the way for chip designers to pack more power into less space.
