Three UK is set to launch 5G network in August, becoming the third 5G network provider in the country

siliconreview Three UK is set to launch 5G network in August, becoming the third 5G network provider in the country

Three UK, a British telecommunications and internet service provideris going to launch its 5G network in August with support for both mobile phones and home broadband.Initially, the 5G broadband service will be available only in London. However, by the end of the year, the company plans to launch it in 25 cities across the UK including Cardiff,Birmingham,Manchester, Glasgow,Liverpool, etc.

This makes Three UK the third 5G network to be launched in the country. EE Limited is the first network provider whose network is already available in six cities across the UK.  Vodafone Group Plcwill launch its 5G network on July 3rd. Three might be launching its service late, but it is promising that its network will be available in as many as 25 towns by the end of the year, while it will be 19 for Vodafone, and 16 for EE.

As informed by Three, its network will be at least two times faster than its competition and the credit for this goes to the 140MHz of the spectrum it has. However, the spectrum isn’t the only factor that will determine the performance of the network. What matters the most is that if network providers have the courage to let it actually reach people.

During the announcement, Three UK mentioned that its 5G network is using a cloud-based core network from Nokia. It hasn’t announced the pricing or handset availability on its network yet.
