3 Exciting Ways That Cities Wi...As surely as time passes, things will change, and that's part of what makes the world a beautiful place; nothing is ever stagnant. Predictions aren't always spot-on, but if we look at the path of progress, it becomes a little easier to plot where we may end up after a few more years of continuing on that path.
While this may all sound relatively abstract, today, we’re going to put that logic to the test as we look at three of the ways that cities are going to change in the near future. There are plenty of exciting developments in store for the municipalities in which we live, with something to cater to everyone’s needs.
While you may have heard of cities beginning pilot projects to have complete wifi coverage over their downtown areas within the next few years, but this kind of project is a little more ambitious. Free wifi throughout the entirety of an urban area will nearly eliminate the need for networks like LTE. You won’t even need a tool for a network discovery.
Of course, realistically, this kind of service won’t be as fast as a private, home network, so that may still be necessary, but it will make things a lot easier for people who are out and about. Even without a phone plan, your smart device will be able to have internet access anywhere in the city.
We’ve also seen this development beginning in certain cities, where urban areas are becoming navigable using digital devices. Smart device integration will make it easier for visitors to explore a city and for inhabitants to find their way through areas of the agglomeration that they may not know too well.
This can range from things that are as simple as bus stops with scannable bar codes on them to full integration with map apps. While a lot of this is already possible through existing apps, the goal is to make the experience as seamless as possible and optimized for each city.
As time goes by, so does the way that we work. Throughout the past few decades, people have largely shifted from manual labor to data-input and other desk jobs. Recently, the number of jobs with an actual workplace has been dropping too, as more and more people begin to work from home.
However, some people have trouble focusing at home. This is where rentable workspaces come into the equation. You can pay a modest fee to rent out a small area where you can work, depending on how long you think it will take you to finish your project. This can range from an hour to a couple of days or even more.
Of course, there are many more predicted developments that we haven’t had the time to mention in this short guide. The future holds a lot of surprises, and it’s hard not to get excited about how it may revolutionize the cities that we live in.
