Gogoro launches a unique vehicle sharing platform

Gogoro, the company that makes one of the leading electric scooters in Taiwan has just announced its vehicle sharing platform. The platform, named GoShare will begin operations the following month in Taoyuan City with a fleet of 1000 electric scooters, to begin with. What’s interesting about Gogoro’s platform is that its strategic partners in Taiwan and abroad would also be able to use it for their operations. This strategy synchronizes perfectly with Gogoro's plans to expand further into Asian, European as well as Australian markets in the coming years. 

In addition to its scooters and one-of-a-kind platform, Gogoro also manufactures changeable batteries and is aiming to establish a comprehensive network of battery charging stations. When it gets up and running, users can rent a scooter, stop at a battery charging station, put in the used batteries, swap in a new one and continue along with their journey. Each of the batteries is approximately the size of a shoe box and are interchangeable without any hassle. While users swap an old battery for a new one at one of the charging stations, the used battery continues getting charged.

The average range that a fully charged battery provides is about 80 kilometers.

Initiatives like these go a long way in enabling people to adopt greener alternatives when it comes to traveling. With greenhouse emissions accelerating climate change to an all-time high, electric vehicles seem to be the only way to reduce emissions to manageable levels.
