Smart Device Development: Hero Labs Raises £2.5 million in Seed Funding
The Silicon Review
15 July, 2019

Hero Labs, a European startup, has raised £2.5 million in its new seed funding. The funding round was led by Earthworm Group, an environmental fund manager. Few other unnamed investors including a £300,000 EU innovation grant also took part in the event.

The funding round comes at a time for Hero Labs it is focusing on the development of smart technology to prevent water leaks across properties in the UK.

Tech Crunch reports suggest that the company will use the fresh fundings to boost the development of its debut product known as “Sonic”, a smart device based on ultrasonic technology. The device is designed to monitor and detect water use within a property.

In light of the nature of the sonic device, it can be termed as a smart defence system; targeting people who seek to safeguard their homes from water leaks. The people who are likely to use the product could be landlords, property developers, business persons, etc. The device typically attaches to the piping below a sink and detects the vibrations coming off from the interconnected pipes.

The reports also added that the device is planned for a launch this year itself. The company will sell the device initially to consumers and small businesses.

Krystian Zajac, the founder of Hero Labs, says that the company is in talks with insurance companies who might sponsor the product.

The new invention by Hero Labs will boost their portfolio and development.
