Sutro to Roll out New Smart Pool Monitoring Device

Sutro to Roll out New Smart Pool Monitoring Device
The Silicon Review
15 July, 2019

Sutro, a Bay Area-based startup, will roll out a smart pool monitoring device in August 2019.  The expected commercial launch of the product is six weeks from now, a report by Tech Crunch said.

In terms of functioning, the product is a kind of floating connected device that measures pH, chlorine and other levels of a pool’s content. The finished product is cylindrical in shape and looks somewhat like a floating travel mug.

According to Sutro, after six weeks, it will start shipping the new device who orders directly from the company’s official website. After rolling out the device online, the company will sell the product through pool stores and other online sites. However, for now, it’s direct purchase only.

The device is priced at $699. Although the device isn’t that cheap, the startup believes that the product will reduce the burden of those who regularly have to monitor pools. The company has received a good number of responses from potential customers. The planned second version of the device will make things simpler and convenient as the company is looking to chip in a new system on it; for releasing chemicals into the water for regulating the water’s makeup.

The company is also looking to extract data from the new product and future ones as well to develop a “water genome,” delivering rich information on water quality across the globe.
