A research conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) breaks new ground in decoding Ebola Virus. It is confirmed that the new drug trails were more than 90 percent effective in treating the deadly pandemic, the BBC reported. The trial was co-sponsored by the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious (NIAID).

The drugs were tested on patients suffering from Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  The research by WHO showed that over 90 percent of the people infected with the virus can survive if treated early with the most effective drugs.

Health officials from WHO said that the drugs will be now used in full scale to treat people in the Central African country. Two people were cured by the experimental drugs and were released from a treatment center from Goma on Tuesday, the reports added.

In light of the result of the trail, NIAD quoted – “very good news” for the fight against the deadly disease.

Dubbed as mAb114 and REGN-EB3, the drugs target the deadly virus with its antibodies neutralizing its effect on human cells. The mAb114 was developed with the help of antibodies taken from Ebola survivors and the REGN-EB3 was developed from antibodies extracted from mice that suffered from the disease.

There are other alternative treatments called ZMapp and Remdesivir, but were not considered for future trails anymore due to their ineffectiveness.

It is reported that the deadly pandemic has taken lives of 1,800 in 2018.

The new drug is a ray of hope for medical experts and doctors across the globe in order to treat and cure Ebola.
