Unpleasant iPhone Malware Detected by Google

Days after Apple announced the annual release date of its new products; a Google study detected a serious security breach in Apple’s iPhone. A malicious bug that is present in the device raids the user’s personal details on the accession of certain websites. This breach was detected by Google’s Project Zero, a special unit that was designed to detect design flaws in products.

“All that users can do is be conscious of the fact that mass exploitation still exists and behave accordingly. Treating their mobile devices as both integral to their modern lives, yet also as devices which when compromised, can upload their every action into a database to potentially be used against them.Simply visiting the hacked site was enough for the exploit server to attack your device, and if it was successful, install a monitoring implant. We estimate that these sites receive thousands of visitors per week.” said a Project Zero researcher, Ian Beer.

This implant gave hackers access to people’s social media sites, personal details, etc. While the researchers have stated that certain sites contain malware, they refrained from disclosing the names of those sites. The upside of the situation is that the malware can be removed from the devices with a simple reboot. It is yet to be seen how this security breach will affect the sales of the upcoming Apple devices.
