Up-Close with the first electric car from Porsche: Taycan

The Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S are the first two electric car models that were put out by the giant automobile company. Unveiled on the 5th of September, these sleek sports car models are powered entirely by electric energy. These high powered vehicles use turbochargers in order to match up to the power output of gasoline-powered motors. According to Car and Driver, the Turbo has a horsepower of 670 while the Turbo S has a horsepower of 750 which almost matches up to the company’sfamous 911 Turbo.

"In every aspect, acceleration, deceleration going into curves, going out of curves, everything about the car -- and you were in the car -- always feels like a sports carand that's how it will set itself apart from other battery electric vehicles," said Klaus Zellmer, the CEO of Porsche in an interview that followed the unveiling.

These environmentally-friendly models are to compete with Tesla’s electric cars.  The models are set to have five driving modes:the usual "Sport," "Sport Plus," and "Normal" settings, the Taycan will also introduce the "Range" mode to maximize its energy efficiency, as well as an "Individual" mode where the driver can personalize his settings. The automobile company also declares that they will come out with an electric-powered SUV, the Taycan Cross Turismo, sometime next year.
