The Silicon Review
Founded in 2006 in Palm Desert, Renova Solar has now grown to more than 130 local employees. The first company in the nation to be accredited by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) in 2012, Renova was also named the 2nd Fastest Growing Private Solar Company in California for three years in a row by Inc. Magazine. Renova was named SunPower’s National Residential Dealer of the Year for 2015 and the accolades continued with an award
for 2015 and 2016 Best of the Valley as determined by Desert Magazine. Renova is also among the Top 50 Residential Solar Contractors as named by Solar Power World Magazine.
Addressing the differentiating factor, Vincent Battaglia, Founder says, “we don’t knock on doors or cold call customers – we treat potential customers like the friends and neighbors they are, and as a local company we participate heavily in the community by being part of many events by supporting local organizations and support many local non-profits.”
And here it stands!
Renova has the largest market share for the Palm Springs area and is known for competitive pricing, offering a superior product with SunPower, and exemplary customer service as evidenced by their 5 Star rating on YELP and 4.97 rating on Solar Reviews.
Bigger. Brighter. Better
Solar for Houses: Renova is the local company more Desert residents choose because they know Renova understands the Desert and what solar system components stand up to the brutal weather conditions. In addition, Renova strives to buy local – in fact, it is the only solar company in the Coachella Valley that purchases electrical components from a local supplier.Keeping it local is good for the entire community.
Solar for Business: Why let high electric bills cut into your margins? Energy from solar will lower costs and help keep the business healthy. Opportunities like accelerated depreciation help make solar even more affordable. “When you install solar, you also let customers know you’re doing your part to help the environment. In fact, research shows that many customers would buy from a business because of the behaviors of the business itself,” says Battaglia.
Solar for Financing: If the roof is correctly oriented and configured, then a homeowner is likely to save substantially with solar. General guidelines say a payback of 6-8 years if you purchase and at least 20-40% savings on the average bill if you lease. Solar and Storage: Renova has partnered with the leading storage manufacturers from around the world to offer Mycrogrid – storage solutions for home or business that provides the next step towards energy independence. In times of outages, the batteries can be designed to power the critical loads like a refrigerator, an outlet so the phone can be charged or perhaps the internet wifi.
It isn’t easy after all!
There are constantly solar companies coming in from out of the area to try to gain a foothold in this community, but they have not been successful because they are not familiar with all the policies of the cities and HOAs, as well as how to successfully construct systems to withstand the harsh desert weather.
The Customer Dimension
The company focuses on homeowners and business owners in the west portion of the Coachella Valley including Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells and other nearby cities. It has installed commercial systems for SunLine Transit Agency, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, Anthony Vineyards and multiple other churches, non-profits and small businesses.
“As a company, we are very focused on our employees and creating a strong corporate culture of loyalty and appreciation. Out of that, great customer service flows naturally because team members are proud of our company and work extra hard to do a good job and keep customers happy and informed.”-Lea Goodsell, Vice President of BD/Marketing
“Before choosing Renova, I looked at other companies providing similar products and services and found them overall to be lacking the attributes demonstrated by the principals and staff of Renova. I highly recommend Renova to anyone considering a solar electric generating system.”-Robert Mason, Rancho Mirage, CA.
“Our focus as a team is to first and foremost educate people about solar and what it could mean for them. It’s still a relatively new technology for most people, and we want to make sure they understand what’s going up on their roof.”-Nate Lewis, Vice President of Sales.
Meet the Master
Vincent Battaglia, Founder: Vincent founded Renova Solar in 2006, after visioning it as his Master’s Thesis the year before. Vincent had previously been in commercial real estate including a seven-year stretch in Russia where he helped introduce sustainable building practices and was exposed to an extreme example of inefficient central delivery of energy and hot water – leading him on a path focused on sustainable and renewable energy sources.
