Inception & Growth
While studying and working in the US, Prasath and Shahani Markus noticed the venture capital and opportunities available in the Silicon Valley. They then founded Auxenta to connect talented engineers from Sri Lanka with start-ups based in the valley. Auxenta was funded by Bayview Capital, a company owned by a well-known serial entrepreneur, Riz Virk. Subsequently, two other co-founders, Chandana Ranasinghe, a leading expert in software QA and testing from Sri Lanka and Nuwan Dehigaspitiya, a leading mobile architect from the industry joined the company. The 4 co-founders together launched Auxenta by developing the bitcoins mobile trading platform named Bitcoin Bazaar, for Bay Coins LLC.

The company later developed several leading-edge mobile and cloud-based software products for start-ups as well as established software companies based in the Silicon Valley, Europe and Asia such as Emojot, Greencoins, Litiq, Medexnote and Fleetminder. Auxenta pioneered its software testing services by delivering consulting services for MillenniumIT, a subsidiary of London Stock Exchange Group. It partnered with MillenniumIT to develop a quality centre of excellence (QA CoE) by taking a holistic perspective of QA processes, tools and the QA team skills. Based on Auxenta leadership team’s experience delivering QA solutions, the company was selected to offer innovative software testing services to leading brands such as TradeStation USA, CAMMS Australia and Dialog Axiata, the largest mobile service provider in Sri Lanka. Most recently, Symbox UK entered into a strategic partnership with Auxenta to deliver IT services to its customers based in the UK and African Continent.

Within the past two and a half years, Auxenta has delivered its innovative engineering services to more than 20 customers based in 3 continents – USA, Europe and Asia while enjoying 300% revenue growth and 80+ global consulting pools. Simultaneously, the company embarked on developing software products and technology solutions targeted to optimize business outcomes of its customer base. Several beta versions of its products and technology solutions are already utilized by its enterprise customers. Helping Bay Coins, LLC with a Cutting-Edge Mobile App
Silicon Valley based start-up Bay Coins, LLC had an idea for a local Bitcoin mobile app. Auxenta partnered with Bay Coins and designed and built the app for the company based on their idea.

The app named Bitcoin Bazaar Local was later launched officially. The app uses location services to find potential buyers and sellers in a user’s neighborhood. It is not only the first Bitcoin buyer-and-seller-matching app available on both iOS and Android devices, but is the first to allow traders to meet face to face for transactions, which means users don’t need to enter bank information into the app. Traders who would rather use PayPal or some other payment method can do that on the app too. Other Bitcoin-trading sites are web-based, while this app can be accessed by both web and mobile. The company is planning to extend the app to trade other leading crypto-currency.

Future Road Map
Auxenta plans to invest in a portfolio of mobile and software testing products, targeted to generate superior experience to customers based in USA, UK, Ireland and Asia. The company plans to maintain at least 50% CAGR with a profitability target exceeding 20%.

Prasath Nanayakkara, Founder, Chairman and CEO- Prasath is a technology leader with over 15+ years of experience driving product and technology innovations in both the U.S and Sri Lanka. Prior to co-founding Auxenta, he was the Head of Technology Delivery at Virtusa, a global IT services firm. Prior to Virtusa, he spent 6 years in the USA as a senior consultant at Cambridge Technology Partners (CTP) and Kenan Systems, focused on Telecom and Utility Industries. Prasath holds a bachelor’s degree in EECS from MIT, USA and an MBA from INSEAD, France.

Shahani Markus, Co-Founder, President and CTO- Shahani has a global experience of 15+ years in the IT industry, government and academia in a professional career that has spanned many interesting roles, including being an educator, engineer, entrepreneur, strategist and researcher. Prior to Auxenta, she held positions as CTO at the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka and as Head of Engineering at Virtusa. Shahani has managed more than 600 technologists and has overseen the engineering governance of multiple software engineering projects. Shahani holds a BS in Computer Science & Mathematics, an MS in Mathematics, an MS in Computer Science, and a PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University, USA.

Chandana Ranasinghe, Co-Founder, COO, VP of QA- Chandana is a highly accomplished QA Leader with over 15 years of global experience. Prior to Auxenta, he held positions as Director of QA at Virtusa and as Head of Process Improvement at Brandix. Chandana has a BSc. Eng. from the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka, and an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenapura in Sri Lanka. He is a Certified Quality Analyst (CSQA) from the Quality Assurance Institute (QAI) of USA.

Nuwan Dehigaspitiya, Co-Founder, VP of Mobility- Nuwan is a technology leader with over 10 years of experience building frameworks, products and innovative technology solutions for multiple international organizations in USA, Europe, Middle-East and Asia. Before co-founding Auxenta, he was the Chief Mobile Architect at Virtusa for a leading client’s Mobile Development Framework (MAF Titanium, iOS, Android and HTML5 Frameworks). Nuwan is a Cross platform Titanium mobile application development expert and a Titanium certified architect (TITAN) from Appcelerator, USA. He holds a BS in Information Technology from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and an MBA from University of Wales, UK.

Crishantha Nanayakkara, Director of Technology- Crishantha is an enterprise architect with nearly 20 years of industry experience. He was the former head of technology at ICT Agency in Sri Lanka (icta.lk) for nearly 8 years. His main research areas are Enterprise Architecture (EA), Enterprise Architecture Development (EAD) and e-Government. Crishantha holds a BSc (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems from University of London and a MBA in Information Technology from University of Moratuwa.
